WHO ARE WE? Suzanne Evans Morris, Ph.D. is a speech-language pathologist in private practice near Charlottesville, Virginia. With more than 45 years of clinical experience, she is nationally and internationally known for her work in identifying and treating young children with pre-speech and feeding disorders. Dr. Morris maintains a practice that includes direct clinical work, continuing education workshops, development of clinical materials, and clinical research. She is the director of New Visions, which sponsors innovative workshops for the teaching of feeding-related skills, and provides family-oriented clinical services. Dr. Morris received her B.A. in Logopedics and Education from the University of Wichita in 1960 and her M.A. (1962) and Ph.D. (1970) in Communication Disorders from Northwestern University. She has studied Neurodevelopmental Treatment approaches extensively in England, Switzerland, and the United States, and is a speech instructor for the Neurodevelopment Treatment Association Inc. She is an active member of the Professional Division of The Monroe Institute, and has been a Gateway Outreach Trainer since 1986. Dr. Morris has published dozens of articles in major journals, and is the author of the Pre-Speech Assessment Scale, a rating scale for the measurement of pre-speech behaviors in children from birth through two years, and co-author of Pre-Feeding Skills: A Comprehensive Resource for Mealtime Development, 2nd edition, and the Mealtime Participation Guide.
