MuSICA: The Music and Science Information
Computer Archive
This gem of a database from the University of California
at Irvine contains more than 25,000 citations and
abstracts of scientific research on music and its
relationship to the brain and behavior. The separate
MuSICA Research Notes is published 3 times a year and
contains reports and analyses of research on music and
behavior.
Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man OMIM includes detailed descriptions
when you search for specific genetic disorders. It also
lists reference articles on the disorder and provides an
abstract through Medline for many of them.
NORD
The National Organization for Rare Diseases (NORD)
provides an extensive data base of genetic and other rare
disorders. The online database provides a concise
description of each disorder and a cross-referenced list
of organizations serving the needs of these individuals.
Neonatology on the Web This is an extensive series of links
related to neonates developed by Cedars-Sinai Medical
Center. It includes various problems or disabilities that
may be identified during the neonatal period, screening
and diagnostic tests, and management of prematurity - as
well as information on infant feeding and neonatal
development.
Pediatrics
The Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics
provides a wealth of information on research related to
children's health. Abstracts are available for all print
articles published from 1975 to the present. Full
electronic articles are available in each issue for
non-subscribers to the print journal.
The
REHABDATA Literature Database REHABDATA is a database that contains
bibliographic records with abstracts of the materials in
the library of the National Rehabilitation Information
Center. It covers all aspects of disability and
rehabilitation, and includes research reports, books,
journal articles, and audiovisual materials. Print out a
custom bibliography on feeding or other area of
rehabilitation.
Miriam Webster Medical DictionaryHaving
a complete Medical Dictionary at your fingertips as you
browse the Internet or search for specific scientific
information is very convenient. The Miriam Webster
Medical Dictionary gives a clear definition of the word
along with a pronunciation guide.
Rx List: The
Internet Drug Index If you have the generic or trade name
of one of the 200 most commonly prescribed drugs, you
will find a detailed, scientific discussion of the drug
chemistry, clinical action and research,
contraindications, precautions, drug interactions,
adverse reactions, dosage and administration, and
overdosage.
