Feeding
Oral feeding is supported by the selection of feeding equipment that fits the child’s mouth and special sensorimotor needs. In order to choose equipment that enhances the child’s feeding abilities, we must understand the purpose and selection criteria for a piece of equipment. Spoons with shallow bowls, for example, make it easier for the child to use the top lip to remove food. Coated spoons and firm plastic spoons do not transmit strong temperature and taste sensations to the child’s mouth. This is very important if a child experiences oral discomfort. Our selection of bottles, nipples, cups, straws, spoons, dishes, and food preparation and protection items will delight you with their diversity and utility. Transition items reflect the creative use of materials often designed for other purposes in enhancing the feeding journey.
